The Property

Both the house and the cabin are open year-round and are the perfect retreat for a single couple, a large family, or multiple families (great place for family reunions). Renting both for several days will be rewarded with a discount in total cost.

The property consists of approx. 300 acres, 65 in pasture and the balance in mountain timberland with out croppings of limestone and scattered sinkholes and grottos (caves). Wildlife, including raccoons, deer, wild turkeys, hawks, birds and much more abound on the secluded land. Over three miles of trails (hiking, biking, horseback, and 4-wheeler) are currently available and new trails and overlooks are under construction. Bring your camera and binoculars, you never know what might cross your path. Each season will bring new "Photo-Ops"

There are two barns, a storage "chicken" house, and a grain building available for use. One of the barns is open for stables, with two corrals in the rear. Three year-round running creeks provide a neverending supply of water. No extra charge for the use of these facilities.

As if they don't have enough to do, Jim and Sheryl have landscaped their home and surroundings with an untotaled number of flowers, shrubs, and such. A rose garden, Japanese garden, Hosta garden, native garden, conifer area, perennial gardens, annual area, along with Iris, Daylilies and many specimum plants (weeping, mulberry, pussy willows, purple-leave beech, peach, white pine, birch and much more) cover just part of their home area. Their love of landscaping is spreading slowly down the lane and over into the Pink House and Dave Greer Cabin, Visitors are welcome and as the seasons change, so do the colors in the gardens (Crayola would be jealous).

The cost varies from dates to party size and length of stay, but start at only $75 per night. Please call or email us as far in advance as possible for better rates and service (no deposit is required -- we have that time honored "country trust"). Don't be surprised if Jim (an avid chef) leaves a special treat such as his "Beggars" cheesecake, blackberry lemonade, cream cheese pound cake with "in- season" berries or who knows what.

With this setting, one can be as private as he or she desires. This retreat is located very close to the Sgt. York homeplace and gristmill, Pickett State Park, Big South Fork National Park, other horse trails, many antique stores, Dale Hollow Lake , Rugby , many golf courses, and on route to the Hwy. 127 Yard-Sale (454 miles in August). With the trails, flowers and such, you could spend a very enjoyable day or week without leaving the property.

If you are looking for a clean and comfortable place where you will be treated very special -- give us a try. I'm sure you will make it an annual event and recommend it to all your friends.
