The Cabin

About 600 yards behind the "Pink House" up the creek is the "Dave Greer Cabin". The log cabin, built around the 1830's by the same people that built the "Mark Twain -- John Clemons" home, was moved across the "holler" and reconstructed very close to the same plan design next to the "Cave Spring" (Grotto) that flows crystal clear year-round. Jim and Sheryl bottle their drinking water from this cool spring -- "Nothing Like It!"

Step back in time with this 175 year old landmark. Three beds, two of which are in the loft and accessible only by the old ladder, are the sleeping accommodations (100+ year old quilts cover the main bed). The original fireplace and chimney were moved and rebuilt exactly as it was. The house, also, is fully furnished -- just bring the food (no washer and dryer like in the Pink House). The old covered country porch on two sides of the cabin is covered with antique tools as well as rocking chairs and swings. (2 "Willie Doss" rockers are inside). You will be "hard-pressed" to find a more tranquil place to relax than on the porch swing facing the cave spring with only the sounds of the gently flowing waters of the creek and the occasional squawking of the squirrels or chirping of the many different species of birds breaking the silence. An "out-house" is adjacent to the cabin, however it is only for storage as the cabin has a bath w/shower in the "lean-to" along with the kitchen and dining area. The cabin's setting contains a rail fence, a wooden "foot-bridge" and a wooden swing as well as several other sitting areas. This is as the rest of the world does not exist.
